Comic Mark Kendall's The Magic Negro and Other Blackity Blackness ...

The full title of this subversive solo show -- The Magic Negro and Other Blackity Blackness, as Told by an African-American Man who Also Happens to be Black -- sets the tone for Mark Kendall's comic musings on everything from the race card to Aunt Jemima and beyond, as he directs his withering gaze on common cultural representations. Kendall's part of the local creative collective known as Dad's Garage, several times voted the Best Theater and Best Improv Group in Atlanta by Creative Loafing, and brings this one-man play to the Alliance Theatre's Hertz Stage.
